# How Hypothetical Odds Are Calculated When Comparing Clubs

> What goes into the win probability and the hypothetical lines ChelHead shows when you compare two EASHL clubs, and what they leave out.

## What You See

When you compare two clubs on ChelHead, the Match Prediction card shows each club's chance of winning. A collapsed section below it shows three hypothetical lines in the American odds format: one for the winner, an over/under on total goals, and a puck line. These are hypothetical lines for fun. Betting is not supported.

## What the Prediction Considers

Each club gets a strength profile built from its season and its roster:

- **Record:** win percentage, with short seasons pulled toward average so a hot start over a handful of games is not treated as a sure thing.
- **Goals:** goals for and goals against across the season.
- **Recent form:** results from the club's latest games.
- **Roster stats:** skater scoring, shots, passing, faceoffs, takeaways against giveaways and blocked shots, plus goalie save percentage and goals against.
- **Depth and reliability:** how many players play regularly, and how often the club's games go unfinished.
- **Club profile:** division, ranking points, club star rating and titles won. These count for less than the stats above.

From those profiles, the comparison projects how many goals each club is likely to score against the other. The win probability comes mostly from that goal projection, with the overall strength gap between the clubs adding the rest. Every EASHL game has a winner, so the two clubs' chances split the full 100% between them.

## The Lines

The three lines are worked out from the same projection. The over/under is a half-goal total near the projected combined score, and the puck line is a half-goal margin near the projected difference, so neither can land exactly on the line. Each side's price reflects how likely the projection makes it.

## What It Leaves Out

The prediction only knows what a club's season and roster stats say. It does not know who is actually playing tonight, recent roster changes, or how two particular styles match up. A 70% favourite still loses three times in ten. Read it as a quick summary of how two clubs compare on paper, not as a forecast of any one game.
